Mosney Accommodation Village Visit
Yesterday afternoon Loraine, the kids and I visited Mosney Accommodation Centre (a lovely and really vibrant place), where we met our family of five (three kids aged from 1 - 11). The family arrived to Ireland from Kabul via Paris and Madrid - having been forced to flee the city and their old lives when the Taliban took over Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops.
The family were unbelievably welcoming and warm, and had prepared a feast of Afghan food for our visit! We truly feel that a great bond has formed already, and we look forward to welcoming them to Co. Wicklow this week!
Obviously, out of respect for the family's privacy we will not be publishing any specific detail without their permission, but we will share more general information on their progress and our group's activities in the coming days and weeks.
Finally, we really want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped get us to this position from our start point two years ago. To our committee, friends in the Irish Red Cross, everyone who supported our fundraising efforts and to the people offering gifts to help welcome and settle our family in this foreign and strange environment - Go raibh míle maith agaibh! Your generosity has been incredible!
